"The international Women of Istanbul organisation was an absolute lifesaver when I arrived in this exciting but enormous city in 1992.  We used to receive two pieces of paper stapled together with news of the latest activities.  The magazine sent out now is a total luxury. During the first ten years of membership I was able to find lasting friendships.  We formed tennis groups, book clubs and many other activities.  I have now been living on Büyükada for 27 years, summer and winter.
